I saw a post this morning that really got me thinking and I must say something.

That has really been on my mind lately and just keeps showing up.

Children. The next generation. Everyone talks about how we are ruining the next generation and they will keep saying that. Generation after generation. It’s not a new thing.

That being said, I have noticed a few things that really piss me off.

I am all about gentle parenting and letting your kids get in tune with their feelings and working things out in a new way.

That said, I do feel some parents have never taught their children the word No. How do you expect them to persevere in life if they’ve never heard no? How do you expect them to SAY NO when they NEED to if they have never been TOLD no. How?

What do you expect them to do later in life if you have never taught them to be bored? To use their IMAGINATION. To have to wait? To EARN something?

Just stick a screen in their face. God forbid they use their creative imagination. And sure, there is a time and a place where sometimes we MUST do that. And I get it. Parenting is hard. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. But certainly not ALWAYS, no?

A dad at the pool the other day told me his son was addicted to video games and he can’t get him to leave the house. I asked, “Have you ever thought about simply taking the xbox away?” He looked at me as if I was speaking Chinese. But it really is that simple. It could be that easy.

Turn the fucking TV off. Shut off the video game. Get rid of YOUTUBE. Teach them to interact with others. TO appreciate BEING.

We are setting these children up for FAILURE. Just buy them more stuff. Buy into their fits. Don’t let them work through anything on their own.

And then you wonder why we have widespread depression. Anxiety. Suicide.

But don’t worry, when they get older there will be a medication for that. SO that we can keep them numb. Stimulate the pharmaceutical economy. To enslave them to a system. So they can teach the next generation to do the same.
